Artists often overlook their right to royalties from the publication of their work. Organisations like DACS in the UK, ARS in the US, ADAGP in France, and other collective management organisations (CMO) in 36 countries around the world collect and disperse annual royalty payments for artists who register with them. These payments are not a one-off. Artists are paid every year for the same publications listed in their histories and artists can update their publications every year.
Every year DACS distributes royalties for the use of works in print or digital publications and TV broadcasts, and pays them into your bank account through the Payback scheme. You create an account and share up to date details of where your work was used, and we do the rest.

Not only can you claim royalties from DACS and other CMOs. If your work is used on products like T-shirts, canvas bags, mugs, etc., you can license your work through the CMO in your country.

And finally, artists can register for resale rights with CMOs. If you are registered for this service, then anytime your work is resold over a certain amount, then the CMO in your country will collect a payment from the sale for you.

This gives artists and their beneficiaries a right to a payment every time their work is resold for £1000 or more. It’s free to join and you could receive a payment of approximately £40 and £12,500 each time your work resells.
