Nick will explore the recent growth and developments in generative-AI, from the perspective of a professional image-maker and believer in creators’ rights as well as someone embedded in the campaigning and lobbying for those rights in the face of ever greater pressure from #BigTech.
The talk will touch on the legal, ethical, societal and environmental issues surrounding the technology and look at the very real impact it is having on the professional photography sector, which also has relevancy for fine artists in any medium. Is this something we should buy into, or something to be avoided? Given it is not going to disappear, how do we navigate a path that balances the omnipresence of the tech, with the real concerns being voiced by so many?
