Peter’s talk will explore the intersections of his career as a curator with 25 years’ experience working with artists practicing in a wide range of media on almost 200 exhibition projects, to his current role as Executive Director of the Disability visual arts organisation DASH, intertwined with his photography practice that initially began in the late 1990s.

‘The Autistic Viewfinder’ is a theme that describes Peter as a person, his photography practice and the framework he is trying to apply to it; it also applies to his curatorial practice, although this is a recent construct. ‘The Autistic Viewfinder’ is, in addition, his own analogy referencing his Aphantasia (in that he cannot see images in his mind’s eye); in other words – the Viewfinder is his mind’s eye.

Peter will discuss his current work at DASH supporting other Disabled artists, and how this informs his photography practice – a practice that is inspired by being autistic, but is not necessarily about autism.
