Join us for the final FREE Art Summer School artist talk with Claire Morris-Wright as she presents: How to Fit Creativity into an Artist’s Life on Tuesday, 26 August at 5:30pm UK-time.
In this talk Claire will talk about her involvement in setting up Knighton Lane Artists Studios and Leicester Print Workshop and what this has meant in terms of artists facilities in Leicester. She will explain how these resources and support from Arts Council England and other funding has supported her work in the Hedge Project and The Path.
Mediating and responding to the environment around her, Claire creates her work through her lived experience of being in nature. She uses a wide range of different media including ceramics, drawing, textiles and printmaking testing the technical limits, breaking boundaries, and opening up new viewpoints which show the relationship she has with the place, plants, and changing seasons. Through this focused approach, her aim is to share a detailed introspection on the long and abiding knowledge of an area, place, and time. Chance intervention is the methodology that allows nature to guide her thinking. Finding joy in the mistakes and flaws is what interests her the most in what she does.
